1.15.18 MLK Day/ Anthony Khattar – LGBTQ Business Owners & Entrepreneurs

January 15th, 2018

I’ve wanted to do a series on LGBTQ owned businesses and Entrepreneurs in the Central Massachusetts area.  We thought Martin Luther Kind Day would be great day to introduce the series.

Dr. King’s infamous rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC was rooted in a Jobs Rally.  Dr King wanted equal opportunity for employment and pay for the Black community.  We will have a series of LGBTQ business owners on from time to time.  We take a look at the businesses they’ve chosen, why they’ve chosen that particular business and if their sexual identity was a concern when choosing their career path.

Dr Horace Cooper, PhD,  Adjunct fellow with the National Center for Public Policy Research, co-chairman of the Project 21 National Advisory Board and a legal commentator, explains the Black unemployment rate is the lowest since records were kept.  So this MLK Day we see Dr King’s efforts coming forth.. Black unemployment is way down, Black American income is up and the gap between White and Black America is the narrowest it’s ever been.

Realtor Anthony Khattar, Khattar Realty, LLC, will also join us today to kick off the Business/Entrepreneurs series.

Anthony has been a Realtor since 2004 and hung his own shingle out in 2013.  We learn a bit about becoming a Realtor, why he chose this course and how his sexuality play into his choices.
